Are you buying a new home?

How do you make sure the new home you are buying is gas safe?

Homebuyers cannot always be sure when the gas appliances in their new home were last safety checked and serviced.

Boilers repaired fast

You should ask your vendor for an annual gas safety record which shows that a Gas Safe registered engineer has checked the gas appliances.

If your vendor cannot supply an up to date annual gas safety record, you should get a Gas Safe registered engineer like Samsian Ltd to check the gas appliances before you move in. This check should include the gas boiler, gas oven, gas hob and gas fires. The registered engineer will give the vendor a gas safety record which they should handover to you before you move in.

Better Gas Safe than sorry. Poorly maintained or badly fitted gas appliances can put you at risk from gas leaks, explosions, fires and carbon monoxide poisoning.

Keeping our nation safe

Gas Safe Register is the only official list of gas engineers legally able to perform gas work on boilers, hobs, ovens, fires and all other gas appliances.

Always use a Gas Safe registered engineer
Always use a Gas Safe registered engineer

Gas safety is one of the most important factors in having a safe home and work place. The dangers that surround unsafe gas appliances are deadly serious. Poorly maintained, faulty or badly installed gas work can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, the effects of which can be fatal.

Gas Safe Register is the official gas registration body for the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Guernsey, appointed by the relevant Health and Safety Authority for each area. By law all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register. We make sure all 120,000 gas engineers on the Register are gas safe and qualified to work with gas.

It’s not always easy to spot an illegal gas fitter. Before any gas work is carried out always ask to see your gas engineer’s Gas Safe Register ID card to make sure they are safe and legal.

The Gas Safe Register is here to make sure you don’t fall into the trap of paying for illegal gas work with your health, and possibly your life.
