Boiler Scrappage Scheme 2020

The Boiler Scrappage scheme

The 2013 Boiler Scrappage Scheme was a government programme to encourage homeowners to replace old, inefficient central heating boilers by giving a voucher towards the cost of a new boiler. Despite the government 2013 Boiler Scrappage Scheme closing in England and Wales, Samsian Ltd are continuing with their own scrappage allowance on all new boiler installations carried out from 1st January 2020.

When offering a Vaillant boiler for example, depending on the model of appliance you are replacing our scrappage allowance is typically between £100 to £300 – This will be shown clearly on your written quotation.

Why scrap my old boiler?’

High Gas Bills?
Paying too much for your gas?

Boilers can account for around 60% of what you spend in a year on energy bills, so an efficient boiler makes a big difference. Replacing an old gas boiler with an A-rated high-efficiency condensing boiler and improving your heating controls can significantly cut your home’s carbon dioxide emissions and could save you as much as £300 a year.

Want to know how much you could save? use our free quote tool to get an idea how much a new boiler from Samsian Ltd will cost.

Condensing boilers

All new central heating boilers fitted in the UK must now be condensing boilers, this is not to be confused with ‘combination boilers’.

Condensing boilers are A-rated and around 90% efficiency ratings, compared to older style boilers, which can be as low as 60% efficient.

The 3 common types of condensing boilers

  • Regular condensing boilers heat hot water which is generally stored it in a hot water cylinder.
  • System condensing boilers operate similarly to Regular boilers, but with some heating and hot water component built in
  • Combination (combi) boilers produce instant hot water and central heating separately. There is no requirement for a hot water cylinder with this type of boiler.

Central Heating Filter

Central heating filters are not the answer to poorly designed or failing heating systems but can help in certain circumstances. When we flush an older heating system and install a new boiler we often install a filter to help protect the heating system and boiler from that point on. The devices we fit come fitted with a powerful magnet and is ultimately designed to increase the life of central heating systems and help deliver maximum efficiency.

Most boiler manufacturers currently recommended that a filter is fitted with a new boiler. If you need more information on new boiler installation, follow the link here which will give you all the information you need.

Our filters collect sludge and iron oxide based solids moving around the heating system.

Suitable for most central heating systems.

Contact us for more information about boiler filters, sludge, system debris, magnacelanse & power flushing techniques.

Gas Safety Week 2019

Samsian Ltd pledges its support for Gas Safety Week

Samsian Ltd has pledged its support for Gas Safety Week (16th-19th September 2019), and will be discounting its rates for boiler servicing during Gas Safety Week & raising awareness of gas safety issues.

gas safety week 2019

The ninth annual Gas Safety Week sees organisations from across the UK working together to raise awareness of the dangers of poorly maintained gas appliances, which can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.

This year, Gas Safety Week is addressing a whole range of gas safety matters with a focus on addressing the needs of the most vulnerable – from advice about how to keep vulnerable loved ones gas safe, to raising awareness of using a registered engineer who is legally qualified, to ensure consumers don’t become vulnerable to illegal gas work though lack of awareness.

Danny Tickner, Founder & Director at Samsian Ltd said: “It is our job to make sure that people’s gas appliances are operating safely and efficiently. In some instances, people do not know the signs and symptoms of faulty gas appliances and carbon monoxide poisoning. Because of this, we are supporting Gas Safety Week in order to alert the public of the seriousness of unsafe gas appliances and how they can keep themselves and their families safe. Special events being held all over the country during the gas safety week 16th – 19th September 2019 will help raise awareness & ensure we remain a world leader in Gas Safety”

Jonathan Samuel, chief executive for Gas Safe Register, said: “Unsafe gas appliances can be fatal, and not being aware of these dangers can cause you and your family harm. This Gas Safety Week we have the support of Samsian Ltd and by working together we can keep the public informed of gas safety and help reduce the risk of dangerous gas appliances across the UK.”

Top tips on how to stay Gas Safe this Gas Safety Week:

  • Know the symptoms of CO poisoning; headaches, nausea, breathlessness, collapse, dizziness and loss of consciousness.
  • If you smell gas or think there might be a gas leak, call the free 24-hour national gas emergency number immediately on 0800 111 999.
  • Never attempt to work on a gas appliance yourself, always seek the help of a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer who can work on your gas cooker, boiler or fire in a safe way.
  • Don’t cut corners – only employ a suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer when having gas work carried out in your home.
  • Always ask to see your engineer’s Gas Safe ID card. Make sure you check the back of the card, which will state which gas appliances they are qualified to work on.

Gas Safe Register is the official register for legally qualified engineers. You can find a registered engineer in your area by visiting the Gas Safe Register website at by calling on 0800 408 5500.
